Söderköping’s enterprise and industry offers an exciting, broad range of players in numerous branches. The largest employer is the Municipality of Söderköping, followed by Coiltech where 300 employees manufacture heat exchangers for ventilation systems and industrial equipment. A host of smaller companies are active within plastics, heating/ventilation and electronics. Some companies have developed their own special niches such as HTC Sweden which produces grinding and janitorial machines for stone and concrete floors, and Sura Magnets AB which specialises in the development and production of precision-moulded, bonded magnets. A new network called KiS which contributes to local growth and development, has been initiated by the knowledge-based enterprises. Up and coming designers in ready-made clothing and handicrafts are also on the increase.
Söderköping is a shopping town of distinguished heritage; numerous boutiques can be found in the historical and idyllic town centre, in the shopping centre ‘Fix-Punkten’ and in the Canal Harbour area on the banks of Göta Canal.
The Municipal Enterprise and Industry Office works to provide services and support to all of the companies in our municipality. These services include close cooperation with regional players to give local companies the opportunity to benefit from regional resources. In addition, we have access to a broad network of expertise and advice in many trade and industry issues. We work closely with Jobs and Society ‘Nyföretagarcentrum’, which offers professional, confidential and free of charge advice to those who wish to start a company. We have a high rate of entrepreneurship in the municipality and we strive to help and support start-ups in the best way we can.

The municipality publishes a free newsletter 5 times a year which contains up-to-date information from municipal administrations and offices as well as specific trade and industry information which is of great interest for local enterprises. Growth
In recent years our work regarding growth has taken centre stage. Through extensive cooperation with local companies, associations and organisations a strategy and action plan for growth has been drawn up. We have prioritised three decisive factors which are crucial for an increase in growth in Söderköping. Firstly, the municipality shall continue to be attractive to our residents, visitors and new establishments. Secondly, entrepreneurship is another significant area for growth involving an increased cooperation between companies and schools and training in different forms. Thirdly, the focus is on new and established enterprises, to attract new companies to the area and to support the developmental work of Söderköping’s established enterprises .
