There is much to experience in Söderköping – medieval churches, picturesque quarters with old buildings, the area around Göta Kanal, breath-taking nature such as the Ramunder Mountain in the city and St. Anna Archipelago just outside. Söderköping beneath our feet
Söderköping is unique for its well-preserved archaeological finds. During the tour you will find out what has been found in the city which is literally beneath our feet. You can also follow the exhibition signs placed at historically interesting places. An in-depth brochure is available at the Tourist Office or can be downloaded.
Rose Garden and Herb Garden
Wander around the beautiful herb garden on Skönbergagatan run by the Herb Garden Society. Hundreds of roses, both old and new varieties, grow in Haga Park's rose garden and at Hotellplan by the canal. Take a deep breath and enjoy!
From above
Walk up to Ramunder Mountain above the Canal Harbour and enjoy Söderköping as it spreads below you. Ramunder Mountain's nature reserve is a pleasant forest with many exercise tracks and walkways.
Söderköping on your own
Take a tour on your own through the city and visit the medieval quarter of Drothem with its winding alleys and low buildings from the 18th century with names like "Kalle mä pipas stuga" and "Knäckegummans gård" . Get your on brochur at the Tourist Information Office or download one on our website.
The Churches
Nine of all the ten churches in the municipality date from medieval times and many have preserved their character since then. The city churches St. Laurentii, Drothem and Skönberga are open all days during the summer.
The castle ruins of Stegeborg
The castle ruins of Stegeborg at Slätbaken are open daily during the summer. Guided tours as per agreement. An audio-guide is also available for a sightseeing tour on your own. The beautiful medieval church of Skällvik lies nearby.
Capella Ecumenica
An ecumenical church, a popular church for weddings and christenings, lies on an islet in Slätbaken. Shown during the summertime. Boats leave from the Canal Harbour in Söderköping and church boats for church services from Kungshällsudden in Bottna.
The Archipelago Museum
At Tyrislöt there is an archipelago museum which reveals the living conditions for previous archipelago inhabitants. The St. Anna local history association runs the museum which is open during the summer. Guided tours as per agreement.
